Maître Jouman El-Asmar is an attorney and a member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec, as well as of the Law Society of Alberta. She is the founder of El-Asmar Legal, a law firm offering legal services in Canadian Immigration and Refugee Law. From 2020 to 2021, she served on the Board of Directors of the Association Québécoise des Avocats et Avocates en droit de l’Immigration (AQAADI), an organization which aims to improve the practice of immigration law in Quebec and allow for better representation of its members before political, judicial and administrative institutions dealing with federal and provincial immigration. In October 2021, Me El-Asmar was elected by her peers to sit on the executive board of the Canadian Association for Refugee Lawyers (CARL).

Usman Mahmood is a Human Rights Lawyer based in Calgary. He is a qualified arbitrator (Q.Arb). He immigrated from the U.K in 2007. He is a Board member at Calgary Legal Guidance and at Pro Bono Lawyers of Alberta. He is also a Tribunal Member at Law Enforcement Review Board of Alberta, and a Council Member on Life Insurance Council of Alberta. He is a recipient of Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee award for his contributions to the legal community of Alberta. Usman is a strong advocate of Human Rights and Canada’s commitment to it. Usman is a father of two.

Faraz Bawa is a senior associate at Stewart Sharma Harsanyi, primarily practicing immigration and family law. Prior to being called to the Alberta Bar in 2014, he was a compensation analyst for the Wynford Group and a currency trader for Olympia Trust Company. Mr. Bawa received a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary. Faraz was recently appointed to the Alberta Human Rights Commission as a Tribunal Member.
