Join the Canadian Muslim Lawyers Association (CMLA) - BC Chapter as it hosts another webinar about Know Your Rights on Monday, November 27th, at 6:00 pm PST (9:00pm EST). In light of the recent events in Palestine, lawyers and community members have expressed an interest in attending protests and demonstrations. This Webinar will be your opportunity to hear from Criminal lawyers about any concerns and questions related to protesting, marching, demonstrating, and voicing your freedom of expression in support of the Palestinian people.
Our speakers are as follows:
Zain Ali practices exclusively in the area of Criminal law and has considerable court experience on a wide range of criminal matters. He clerked for over 11 years prior to attending law school and works to advocate and protect people's rights as a criminal defence attorney.
Affan Bajwa practices in the areas of Criminal and Immigration law and cares deeply about issues involving breaches of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and public interest. Prior to entering law, Afffan worked at many non-profit organizations that were committed to social justice. He is a member of the Association of Legal Aid Lawyers, Criminal Defence Advocacy Society, Junior Immigration and Refugee Lawyers Network and the Canadian Bar Association.
Our moderator is Mohamed Rahall is a fourth-year law student in the joint-degree program in Canadian Common Law (JD) and Indigenous Legal Orders (JID) at the University of Victoria, Faculty of Law.
